Rent an X number
Choose X (Twitter) in Noir SMS and pick the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom.
X, formerly Twitter, asks for your name, a phone number or email, and your birthday when you create an account, then sends a verification code. Accounts created with email are often asked to add a phone later, typically when X temporarily locks an account for unusual activity. Noir SMS rents you a carrier mobile number for 20 minutes and displays X's code in your dashboard. Since 2023, X has limited text-message two-factor authentication to Premium subscribers, so most people secure their accounts with an authentication app, which also means the rented number isn't needed later.
Yes. X lets you sign up with a phone number or email, and it may require phone verification when it locks or limits an account. Rent a US, Canada or UK number for X on Noir SMS, enter it, and copy the code from your dashboard. If no SMS arrives within 20 minutes, the charge is refunded. Note that SMS two-factor authentication is reserved for X Premium.
One number, one X verification. Pay only for what you use.

During sign-up, choose to use a phone instead of email, or enter the number on the locked-account screen. Select the right country first.
Copy the code from your dashboard into X and continue. If X sends another code, it arrives on the same number while it's active.
When X locks an account, it often asks you to complete a puzzle before the phone step. Finish it so the SMS is actually sent; if it never is, the unused number is refunded.
Non-Premium accounts can't use text-message two-factor authentication. Use an authentication app or security key under Settings > Security and account access > Security.
X can let people find you by phone number. Turn that off under Privacy and safety > Discoverability and contacts, add an email, and swap in your own number if you keep the account long term.
Yes. X sends verification codes by SMS, and Noir SMS numbers are carrier mobile numbers that X usually accepts. Rent a US, Canadian or UK number, enter it at sign-up or on the locked-account screen, and copy the code from your dashboard. If X doesn't send a code within 20 minutes, you're refunded automatically.
X locks accounts it suspects are automated or compromised, for example after many follows, repetitive posts, or a login from a new place. Verifying a phone that can receive SMS, after the puzzle, usually restores access. If X suspended the account for breaking its rules, a phone code won't help, and you'd need to appeal.
It isn't a good idea. SMS two-factor authentication on X is limited to Premium subscribers, and a rented number is recycled after use, so you'd lose access to future codes. Use an authentication app or a security key instead, and keep your email address up to date.
X lists a confirmed phone number among the requirements for the Premium checkmark, along with rules about account age and activity. A rented number can complete the phone step, but X may review the account again if the number changes later. If the checkmark matters to you, your own number is more reliable.
X's rules prohibit platform manipulation, spam, fake accounts and ban evasion. Noir SMS has the same limits: numbers are for verifying your own legitimate accounts only. Using a separate number to keep your personal one private is fine, as long as you follow X's terms.
