01Purpose
Placeholders in brackets (e.g. [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]) must be filled in with the company's details before launch. This document is a starting template and should be reviewed by a lawyer.
Noir SMS exists to help people protect their privacy by verifying their own legitimate accounts without exposing their personal phone number. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of our Terms of Service and applies to every use of the website, dashboard and API.
02What you can do
- Verify accounts that belong to you on websites and apps, in line with their terms.
- Keep your personal number private when signing up for services, marketplaces, dating apps or newsletters.
- Test sign-up and verification flows of applications you own or are authorized to test.
03What is prohibited
- Fraud, scams, phishing or obtaining money, goods or services through deception.
- Impersonating another person or organization, or verifying accounts in someone else's name without their permission.
- Creating accounts in bulk or with automation to abuse promotions, sign-up bonuses, referral programs, reviews, votes or rankings.
- Evading bans, suspensions or other restrictions imposed by a platform.
- Taking over, or attempting to access, accounts or data you are not authorized to access.
- Spam, harassment, stalking, threats or distributing illegal content.
- Money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, or bypassing know-your-customer (KYC) checks at banks, fintech or crypto services.
- Any activity involving the exploitation of minors.
- Reselling numbers or access to the service without our written agreement.
- Interfering with, overloading, scraping or reverse-engineering the service, or circumventing rate limits.
- Any use that violates applicable law in your country or the country of the number.
04Restricted services
We may block numbers for certain services (for example banks, payment providers or government services) at any time to prevent abuse. If a service is not listed in your dashboard, numbers are not available for it.
05Enforcement
We monitor usage patterns to detect abuse. If we believe this policy has been broken, we may, without prior notice, cancel purchases, block numbers or services, suspend or close the account, forfeit balance obtained or used in violation, and cooperate with law enforcement and affected platforms where required by law.
06Reporting abuse
If you believe a Noir SMS number was used to harm you or your platform, contact [ABUSE EMAIL] with the number, date and time, and a description. We review every report.
