Rent a number in your country
Select Nextdoor in Noir SMS and pick a US, UK or Canada number, matching the country where your neighborhood is.
Nextdoor is a neighborhood network in the US, UK, Canada and other countries, and it's built on real identities: you join with your real name and your home address, and Nextdoor verifies that you live there. You can sign up with an email or phone number; with a phone, it texts a confirmation code. Address verification is a different step. Nextdoor may match your address against your mobile carrier's billing records, mail you a postcard code, or use other methods. Noir SMS only handles the text code, using a carrier mobile number reserved for 20 minutes.
Partly. A Noir SMS number can receive the text code Nextdoor sends to confirm a phone number at sign-up: rent a US, UK or Canada number, enter it and copy the code from your dashboard, with a refund if no SMS arrives in 20 minutes. It cannot verify your home address, which Nextdoor checks separately, and Nextdoor requires your real name.
One number, one Nextdoor verification. Pay only for what you use.

Choose to continue with a phone number, enter the rental number and wait for Nextdoor's text. Copy the code from your dashboard.
Complete Nextdoor's address verification with a method that reflects where you really live, such as the postcard option. The rental number can't do this step.
When Nextdoor verifies an address by phone, it checks whether your mobile account's billing address matches your home. A rented number isn't billed to you, so use a postcard or another method for address verification.
Nextdoor requires your real name and the neighborhood you actually live in. Impersonating a neighbor, joining a neighborhood you don't live in, or creating extra accounts breaks Nextdoor's rules and Noir SMS's acceptable use policy.
Noir SMS numbers are recycled after one verification. Make sure your Nextdoor account has an email you control so you can sign in and reset your password later.
Nextdoor lets you sign up with an email address or a phone number. If it asks you to confirm a phone number by text and you'd rather not use your own, a Noir SMS number can receive that code. You'll still need to verify your real address separately to access your neighborhood.
No. Nextdoor's phone-based address verification checks the billing address on your mobile account, and a rented number has no connection to your home. Use another method Nextdoor offers, such as a postcard mailed to your address. Noir SMS is only for receiving the sign-up text code.
Yes. Nextdoor operates in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and several other countries. Noir SMS offers US, Canadian and UK numbers, so pick the one that matches the country of your neighborhood. That keeps the country code consistent with your address and makes sign-up more straightforward.
Mostly for privacy. Nextdoor already shows your name and neighborhood, and some people prefer not to tie their personal phone number to a local social network too. A temporary number receives the confirmation code once, while your account keeps working through email or app login.
No. Nextdoor is limited to verified residents, and getting around that, impersonating a neighbor, creating fake accounts, spamming or running local scams violates Nextdoor's guidelines and Noir SMS's rules. Our numbers are for verifying your own real account, not for misrepresenting where you live.
