# Noir SMS

> Noir SMS (https://noirsms.com) rents private, temporary virtual phone numbers to receive SMS verification codes (OTPs) online. Main countries: United States (+1), Canada (+1) and United Kingdom (+44), plus 190+ other countries. Pay per number, no subscription; if no SMS arrives within 20 minutes the charge is refunded automatically.

Key facts:
- What it is: a web dashboard where you buy a phone number for one verification on one service (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram, Google, Instagram, Tinder, Uber) and read the SMS code in your browser.
- Number lifetime: reserved for 20 minutes. Manual cancel after 2 minutes with instant refund if no code arrived. Automatic refund if no SMS arrives.
- Numbers are mobile numbers from carriers (not VoIP), so they usually work where VoIP numbers such as Google Voice or TextNow are rejected. Acceptance by every app is not guaranteed; rejected numbers can be cancelled for a refund.
- SMS only: no voice calls, no outgoing messages. Single use: not suitable as a long-term recovery number.
